about

This is a true story about an elderly man, all alone.
And a (sort of) prayer for EVERYONE, including self.

lyrics

Up at my grandfather's house you hear the crickets.
The house he lives in is new, or it was when he bought it.
And the house that he grew up in stands right behind it.
And the pond next door is stagnant like the people who own it.
Shortly after moving there, in 1992 my grandmother caught it.
That liver disease, it ate her. It feasted like maggots.
So now he's all alone in his small town in Texas.
No big city noise, no bright lights infect it.
The lonely, the few, the sad, let the lord please erect us
Into one big smiling family, please guide and direct us.
I am one with all those old men, and there's no one to help us.
The lord, I believe he exists, just not in Texas.
